The Southeast British Car Festival Returns to Dillard, Georgia

It all started back in 2006 when I was on a mountain drive in my Midget and we were following this incredible MGA. The reaction was one of awe and excitement motivated by the sensual look of the beautiful lines and the silhouette before us. Soon, we were the proud owners of an MGA Coupe whose lines were even more sensual and caused quite a stir in our hearts.

All of this is only the intro to announcing the 2014 Southeast British Car Festival in Dillard Georgia sponsored by the Peachtree MG Registry ( in Atlanta. This biannual event, started in the early 1990s, has grown in importance and stature over the past few years as it has shifted from an all MG event to an all British show. After the Peachtree MG Registry hosted the NAMGBR National Show in 2012, the Southeast Festival has been expanded to build on everyone’s great experiences.

Taking place from September 18 to 21, when the Georgia weather is perfect for leisurely drives on some of the most beautiful roads in America, the show will continue to feature MGs along with all British marques. With over fifteen MGAs including at least three coupes, the Peachtree Registry will make this year’s show a magnet for all of the beautiful MGAs in the Southeast and nearby states. To make the show more appealing to those living a bit further away, this will be a four day/three night event.

In addition to the show itself, this Southeast Regional will include a night at the Tiger Drive-In movie, visits to local wineries, antique shops, and a series of guided and self-guided drives on the beautiful mountain roads.

For those looking for a bit more sedate experience, there will be tech sessions featuring some of the Southeast’s most experienced car people along with a traditional English craft experience. And, of course, the wonderful people in their Little British Cars will bring out the best in everyone as we sit in the rocking chairs, watch the stars and tell our stories of driving through the hamlets and small towns all across the countryside.

Did I mention the Valve Cover races? Two years ago, a number of people traveled from several states away just to participate in these fantastic races with their personalized versions of a Valve Cover racer. With at least two champion racers in our club, we know that the competition will be stiff.

We will be hosted by the award winning Dillard House  with accommodations looking out on pastures and wooded areas. There are also a variety of hotels and bed and breakfasts in the immediate vicinity – in Dillard and Clayton, GA in Rabun County and Highlands, NC.

Peachtree MGA owners are looking forward to hosting a large contingent of MGAs and are planning a few special activities just for our NAMGAR friends. We know that everyone who comes to this part of the country, as many of you did last June for GT-38, will leave with great memories to share with your friends back home. For more information, contact Tim Gaffney or visit the Peachtree Registry website.
