Photo for 2012 Key West Gathering - Register Now!!

Register now for the NAMGAR Key West Regional Event to be held April 22-27th.  The Conch Republic Independence Celebration schedule of events is also available.

Planning is almost complete and we are ready for registration to begin - click here for the Registration Form! We have several things planned, but everything is optional, so you can make your own schedule. Most meals are “on your own.” We will provide a list of recommended restaurants and expect that the Monday gathering will establish new friendships, and regulars will gladly help newcomers. Remember, Conch Republic Independence Celebration events will be going on daily. Email is the primary communication, so keep it current.

Sunday, April 22:

Optional night in Key Largo, a trailer dropoff for trailered cars, and starting point for the Sightseeing. Rally to Key West on Monday. Sunday’s host hotel is the Holiday Inn Key Largo. You may leave your trailer in their back lot. Trailer parking in Key West is a problem.

Monday, April 23:

9:00 a.m.- Meet at the Holiday Inn Tiki Hut for final Rallye instructions. It is a three-hour drive to Key West, but we want you to stop and see some things along the way, answer some Rallye questions, and have time for lunch. If you aren’t planning to be in Key Largo, Rallye instructions will be emailed to you.

6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.- Welcoming Meet and Greet at the Blue Marlin Motel. We will provide snacks, beer, wine, etc. You will receive your registration packet and get a briefing of the week’s activities. Dinner will be on your own. The Blue Marlin is the host hotel, offering off-street parking, and is located one block from Duval Street, the middle of Key West activity.

Tuesday, April 24:

9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.- Drive to Bocce Ball Tournament and Cookout at Sonny McCoy Indigenous Park. We encourage everyone to attend and participate in this event. Bocce Ball is for everyone. It is fun, takes minimal effort, and any team can win.! A car show will be held in the parking lot. Our Admiral, Fred Skomp, and Cindy will provide a cookout lunch of burgers, hot dogs and brats.

6:00 p.m. or before: Make your way to Zachary Taylor Park for sunset. There is a small entrance fee, but the outstanding unobstructed view is worth it. Go early so you can enjoy the best beach in Key West, or tour the fort. Dinner is on your own.

Wednesday, April 25:

10:00 a.m.- Drive up the Keys for a Miniature Golf Tournament and lunch at Boondocks.

5:00 p.m.- KWBCC Annual Meeting and Happy Hour at Finnigan’s Wake Irish Pub. The club will provide the starter rounds of beer. Their motto: “Come for the beer, stay for the food, leave with the staff.”

Thursday, April 26 (Free Day):

Some ideas: go to Dry Tortugas, fish in the Gulf or Atlantic, shop in town, Jet Ski tour, enjoy the beach, USS Mohawk, Botanical Gardens, Hemingway House, do nothing, or just count chickens and cats.

5:00-6:00 p.m.- Parade decorating and awards in the Motel parking lot. It’s the “World’s Longest Parade”, going from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. This is the big event of the Conch Republic Independence Celebration, and everyone can join in, even without a car. You are welcome to walk along with the cars, throw beads, and be on hand to push the inevitable overheated car. Pay the participation fee (see Registration Form) so you will have the club uniform and supplies. Afterwards, return to the motel, or let us know that you are okay.

Friday, April 27:

No official events scheduled. If you are not leaving for home, don’t miss the Naval Battle Reenactment late that afternoon off Mallory Square...real planes, ships, cannons, toilet paper and stale Cuban bread.

Note: MAKE YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS ASAP! The Blue Marlin Motel rate for Friday night may be higher than the Club rate. If you have any questions, contact Jim Ferguson, Vice Admiral at ViceAdmiral@KWBCC.com or 828-244-6945. Check the Key West website for updates.
