Sometimes the stars align. By now you probably know that GT-44 is to be held in Dubuque, IA July 10th to the 14th. What you may not know is that Minnesota MG Vintage Racers (MMGVR) has been working hard with the MG Vintage Racers and the Road America racetrack to bring an MG focus event to that historic raceway the following week.

Cruising IowaEach year Road America holds the Weather Tech International Challenge with Brian Redman presented by HAWK, a vintage festival with everything from Sprigets to former Formula 1 cars, in July. We thought that since we had the MG race car as the featured vehicle at GT-44, how cool would it be to have an MG focus the following week just one state over? Well, it’s official. From the Road America Press Release:

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., August 29, 2018 - Road America announced today that the feature of the 2019 WeatherTech International Challenge with Brian Redman presented by HAWK will be a special MG "Focus Event". Widely known as one of the largest vintage race car gatherings in the United States, featuring several classes of cars racing in multiple groups, the WeatherTech International Challenge with Brian Redman presented by HAWK will return on July 18-21, 2019.

The mid-summer classic will include everything from a special concourse on Friday and Saturday along the streets of Elkhart Lake, to a Historic CAN-A race, plus All-MG Races and a special scenic drive for any non-racing MG's on Tuesday of race week, making the 2019 event a can't miss spectacle for any racing and MG enthusiast.

As you plan your summer vacation for 2019, please consider extending your stay in the Midwest to include this rare and wonderful gathering of vintage MG racecars and activities at Road America and in Elkhart Lake.

But that’s not all the good news!

David HobbsWe can also confirm that David Hobbs, world renown race driver and commentator, will be our guest for GT-44. He will join us in Dubuque and be our special guest for several events throughout the GT. In addition to the historic and idyllic location for our race themed GT, we now have a vintage MG race to make this one for the history books!

Stay tuned for more specifics as they become available.

Any information on the Tuesday scenic drive for non racing MG's? We are coming from Connecticut and don't know much about Wisconsin. Where would I find out what this is about. Thanks!
