Mark your calendars and make plans to join MG Vintage Racers for up to FOUR DAYS (May 16-19) of Focus Event action with the Vintage Racers Group at the historic Jefferson 500 at Summit Point Motorsports Park, West Virginia (west of Washington, DC)!  This will also be the event’s 20th anniversary celebration!

Why join the fun in West Virginia in May?

  • Up to Four Days of racing action if you take advantage of VRG’s Early Bird Entry that entitles you to a FREE Thursday Test day! Start training now!
  • VRG’s optional Drivers’ School for novices and experienced drivers (May 15 & 16). Chief Instructor Ed Valpey conducts one of the finest drivers’ schools on the planet-your editor will vouch for the quality of this instruction. Visit the VRG website for more information on this outstanding opportunity.
  • Join your MG friends in the paddock, on the track for All MG racing and group racing action, and at MGVR Central for bench racing, story telling and general MGVR camaraderie. Again this year we plan to welcome everyone to MGVR Central on Thursday night at our Meet and Greet Social.
  • This event is open to ALL MG vintage racers who have a current vintage racing license, a current medical, and an MG with a current log book and proper safety equipment. At this writing I am fairly certain that a roll bar of some sort is a must but I’m still waiting to hear on fuel cells. You can feel fairly confident that if your MG has a log book and meets your home organization’s safety and prep requirements, you are good to go. If you have questions, please contact me at
  • This is a spectator event! Invite your family and friends and tell your MG car club friends-Summit Point is a fan-friendly venue with plenty of scenic spectator areas. The track is about 10 miles off of interstate route 81. A large turnout of a variety of vintage race cars will compliment the many MG which are expected to attend and challenge the track’s two mile, 10 turn course. MGs from Pre-War MGs up to MGB’s will be competing. Summit Point is a wonderful race facility for both racers and spectators alike, located in the lovely country side, with lodging available in nearby towns. And if you are interested, there is also much civil war history you can explore nearby, plus there are casinos and horse races not far away in Winchester.
  • Did I mention that this year’s Grand Marshall is none other than Brian Redman...THE Brian Redman. Meet the legend as he strolls through the paddock-make sure to attend Saturday evening’s banquet where Brian will be the guest of honor.

So mark this event on your calendar and plan to come and enjoy it. Lots of MGs will be there on and off the track, sharing in their love of the MG marque!

Entry information and schedules will be released as soon as they become available. Please feel free to visit VRG’s web site for updates and alerts, or stay tuned as MGVR E-Bulletins are released. Join MGVR and VRG at this year’s Jefferson 500-your right foot may never be the same!
