Drive Your MGA Day - 2017

"Drive Your MGA Day" became Drive Your MG or Jaguar Day for NAMGAR Chapter Club, the Canadian Classic MG Club, and its sister Club, the Canadian XK Jaguar Register, on Saturday, May 6th in Vancouver, BC.

Eight MGAs, eight MGBs, six Jaguars, and one BMW reported to the start of the poker run at 10am in Steveston in bright sunshine. The BMW was actually driven by CCMGC President, Norm Stanley, who claimed he could not find the key to the locking gas cap on his super charged MGB!

After stops in parks in Ladner, White Rock and Campbell River to pick up cards for our poker hands, and a drive of around 60 miles, the 23 cars arrived at The Artful Dodger Pub in Langley for lunch. Here the group was joined by at least four more Jaguars.

NAMGAR member, Peter Cuthbert, won the best poker hand award having driven solo in his 1958 MGA, while Doug and Rhonda Gale won the best team name award with "Red Hot MGB". Thanks to the organizers, Chris Down and Ruth Schmidt.

Guess who forgot to check his brake fluid!

Well in Pittsburgh we had a high of 45 and rain but I went out for a 100 mile run with the Triumph club. I sent emails out to other MGA owners but none of them showed up. It was cold and wet but we ended up at a Triumph club members garage with cold beer and hot food. At the first rest stop one of the Triumph owners asked me why I did not have my windows up. I told him I did not have windows. It was a cold ride home with the side curtains in.

Drove my MGA onto the lawn at the Keels & Wheels Concours d'Elegance at Seabrook, TX in the company of three other excellent A's.
