Did You Drive Your Magnette?

Saturday October 4th, 2014, was NAMGAR’s first “Drive Your Magnette Day”. We do not have a Magnette, but wanted to show our respect for this pre-cursor of the MGA, so we drove the nearest thing we have to a Magnette – our 1958 MGA Coupe.

The weather was perfect for a drive in a car with a real roof – it was raining. We did not go far as we just went about 10 miles from our home. We visited the City of White Rock, a seaside town in Western Canada on the Pacific Ocean.

In White Rock we visited the “Whaling Wall”, a huge mural of whales. This was painted by the famed painter, Robert Wyland in 1984. It was re-furbished about 10 years ago, and is currently being re-painted again.

We think our red and white MGA Coupe looks great against this special wall. And on the way home while stopped at a red light, a boy on the roadside shouted, “Hey Mister, can I take a photo of your car?” “Of course you can”, we responded, proving the adage “Real MGs Have Four Wheels”!

If you drove your Magnette on Saturday, please send us some photos (with captions) and a short write-up on your day.
