Latest Rallye to Reno Update

Photo for Latest Rallye to Reno Update

We now have over 100 cars registered for the Rallye to Reno, with more coming in every day! If you haven't registered yet, please do so, as the deadline is May 1st.

Visit the website to register either for MG2011 or Rallye to Reno. Also speaking of deadlines, some of the discount rates at the hotels will run out April 15 (just a couple, but we want you to take advantage of as many of the discounts as you can). Please get registered, and we'll send you the hotel info so you can make your reservations.

Lots of great things have already been planned, with more in the works. Of course, most of you have heard about the rallye plates. Moss Motors helped us make these something special. We'll be getting the plates out to you before the rallye, so you can mount them on your car. Along with the rallye plates, you will also receive other signage, badges, the tour book and much more!

If you're adventurous enough to start at the beginning, in Ocean City, MD, we will get pictures under the boardwalk sign at the eastern end of US50, before setting off for Washington, DC and the first night's stop in Winchester, VA. Our riverside accomodations in Cincinnati hold promise for a great stop. The MG Car Club Southwestern Ohio Centre will bring out the John Zeno Memorial 'Supply' Trailer for a bit of liquid refreshment in the evening in the hotel parking lot. In St. Louis, we've arranged with the Gateway Arch to allow us special parking, and a photographer with a helicopter to get a picture of this special moment.

In St. Louis, we've got a great hotel selected right in town, with lots to do within walking distance. Of course, that special display of our MGs under the arch, commemorated by an aerial photo should be outstanding! In Kansas City, Victoria British will be hosting an open house and barbecue at their location right on US50. Then we're off to experience the wild west of Dodge City.

In eastern Colorado, Pikes Peak in Colorado is only a few miles off US50 and makes for a spectatular side trip, and the Royal Gorge Bridge is right near Cañon City, CO, where we're staying the first night in Colorado. When we get to Grand Junction, Classic MG magazine is arranging a reception and dinner at our hotel. As we approach Reno, running with so many other MGs will be an unforgettable experience.

Following MG2011, the trip across US50 continues all the way to San Francisco, making this truely a cross country MG trip of a lifetime. For those interested we'll be spending two nights in San Francisco, which should give you enough time to dip a toe in the Pacific, drive down Lombard Street and stop at Fishermans Wharf.

Information on shipping your MG back East from San Francisco will be forthcoming in the very near future for those interested.

Join us for the entire Rallye, or run with us as we pass through your neighborhood. You do not need to register for MG2011 to register for the Rallye to Reno. Cost is only $35.00 per car to participate, and that gets you a numbered metal rallye plate, other car signage, a complete listing of hotels, a tour guide of places to see and things to do across the country, and quite a bit more.

We look forward to your participating in this once in a lifetime journey.

Is anyone driving east to join the Rallye in either Ely or Grand Junction?
