NAMGAR is sad to announce the passing at the end of March of well-known member, Bill Shamonsky, husband of NAMGAR Chairman, Carol Shamonsky. Our condolences to Carol and family on their recent loss. Following is the self-authored obituary.

"William Michael Shamonsky of North Abington Twp. and Mt. Dora, FL, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 in Tavares, FL, the result of progressive illnesses over many years. He had fought a good battle with them and was 66 years old. His wife is the former Carol Meranti Morris.

"Born in Scranton, PA, April 11, 1950, son of the late Anthony G. and Kathryn Fedorka Shamonsky, Bill grew up in Clarks Summit, PA, and graduated from Abington Heights High School, Class of 1968, and attended Penn State University. An outstanding tennis player in his youth, he was a member of his high school’s original tennis team.

"Bill’s career was in Information Technology. He was employed at the Metlife Information Systems Centers in both Clarks Summit, PA, and Troy, NY for almost 38 years prior to retiring in 2009.

"Bill had a lifelong interest in British sports cars, particularly the MGA. Well known in British car circles, he was a member of the North American MGA Register, North American MGB Register, All British Car Club of Central Fl. and was a founding member of the British Car Club of Northeastern Pa. and Key West British Car Club. He was also a licensed private pilot and former airplane owner and an avid O-gauge model train enthusiast. He will be dearly missed by many.

"Besides his loving wife, he is survived by brother Anthony G. Shamonsky, Jr. and wife Betsy, Slate Hill, NY, sister Carol Scott, Bryn Mawr, PA, daughter Meredith Morris Mead and husband David, Palmerton, PA, and granddaughters Dana and Danica Mead and an aunt, Dorothy Neskauskas, Santa Fe, NM, cousins and a niece."

Per his instructions, he was cremated. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  A memorial will be held on May 11, 2017 at 11am at First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, 300 School St., Clarks Summit, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the church.
