At every GT, NAMGAR honors the local chapter that has done the most in the previous year in support of the North American MGA Register by participating in events and activities that promote the organization at the Regional level.

The criteria are outlined in NAMGAR's Operations Manual as:

  1. Ten points for hosting a GT (within the past 3 years).
  2. Five points for hosting a NAMGAR Regional event (within the past 3 years).
  3. Three points for having a complete chapter profile on file at
  4. Three points for providing an annual report to the Chapter Coordinators, including the number of NAMGAR members and the total number of members in the Chapter by December 31st of each year.
  5. Two points for having submitted their chapter newsletter to NAMGAR.
  6. Two points for GT attendance with a greater percentage of chapter membership.
  7. One point for article submission of an event or activity to either MGA! or the website (article must be published and does not include National and Regional reports on events).
  8. One point for each new NAMGAR member (as confirmed by the Registrar).

This formula was established in 2016 to give smaller active chapters a chance at receiving the award, and starting with GT-42 the winning chapter would be awarded a check for $100.00 from NAMGAR and a certificate of recognition, as well as a photo on the website and in MGA! magazine. What actually happened at GT-42 was that two chapters came up with the same total of twenty-two points!

So both the Michigan Rowdies and the Ottawa MG Club received awards.

Chapter Recognition AwardNAMGAR Vice Chairman and Michigan Rowdies member, Larry Pittman, accepts the award on behalf of the chapter, from Chapter Coordinators, Ed Sass and Colleen Quinn.
