The NAMGAR Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jeff Becker has been appointed to serve as Vice Chairman, replacing Carol Shamonsky. Carol has assumed the role of Chairman now that Bruce Woodson has retired. These changes became official at the recent Board meeting held in January.

Bruce has served NAMGAR well for the past four years leading our organization forward and sharing his professional expertise. We are grateful for his leadership, enthusiastic spirit, and diplomacy.

Carol is well positioned to follow in Bruce's footsteps, having served as Vice Chairman during his tenure. She has become a familiar face to many NAMGAR members as she guided the organizers of NAMGAR GT and Regional events along the path from conception to implementation.

Although Jeff is the newest member of the NAMGAR Board, he is not new to the organization, having joined our ranks in January of 1999. He has been involved with MGAs since 1971 when he bought a car from his Uncle's junkyard. It was sitting on top of another car without an engine or transmission and plagued by the curse of Lucas, the Prince of Darkness.

Jeff recounts that the purpose of buying a car was to learn about working on cars as he was taking an automotive course at college. Within six months the car was running and road worthy although it still looked like it came from a junkyard. He still has the same car 43 years later.

A member of the Long Beach MG Club for most of the '70s and into the '80s, Jeff is now a member of the MG Car Club of South California along with his NAMGAR involvement. Look for a full biography in a future issue of MGA! and on namgar.com.
